George E. Long

Perch Base Holland Club member George Long passed on to Eternal Patrol April 22, 2017. He was also a member of the Tautog Base in Casa Grande, AZ.
George joined the Navy in 1950, qualified in submarines on the USS Sea Fox (SS-402) in 1958 and retired from the Navy as a Chief Electrician’s Mate, EMC(SS), in 1973.

George served on the USS Gunston Hall (LSD-5,) USS Sea Fox (SS-402,) USS Razorback (SS-394,) USS Sea Leopard (SS-483,) USS Catfish (SS-339) and the USS Pomfret (SS-391.) He also served as an instructor at Electrician Mate A school and completed a tour in Vietnam.
George served as Vice-President of the Sea Fox Association from 2011 to 2013.
George is survived by his wife, Betty.
George was remembered at the Melcher Mortuary in Mesa, and a lunch followed at Christ's Church in San Tan Valley, AZ.
